Creating a rental product in TWICE Commerce involves defining the product details, linking it to inventory, and configuring rental-specific settings.

Steps to create a rental product

Create a new product

Navigate to the Products page in the catalog.

Click New product.

Fill in the basic details:

  1. Product name.
  2. Category (select an existing category or create a new one by typing).
  3. Description (supports rich text formatting).
  4. Images (upload one or more visuals).
  5. Modify the base pricing or keep as is.

Click Create and you have create the product and have available all settings for setting up the pricing and controlling rest of the features.

Set the pricing

After creation, fine-tune the pricing using the pricing tab.

Define booking durations (e.g., hourly, daily) either as a standalone pricing table or by utilizing (or creating new) a pricing table template, which can be used with all products. The pricing table automatically calculates the values based on the base price, but each row can be customized as wished.

If variants (e.g., size or color) are in use, you can adjust the price increases if needed.

Tip: always set the pricing table to have the base prices, which are the cheapest prices, as the variant pricing only allows increasing the prices.

Define availability

Link the product to inventory by selecting an SKU or creating new. If variants are in use, link each variant to the corresponding inventory articles.

Configure availability by defining when the product is available and at what intervals or specific times. You can also set the product to be available on selected dates, if you have for example a special campaign.

And if desired, by limiting the maximum bookings per start time to set a cap on simultaneous bookings.

Additional settings

Besides the standard settings and options, you can take advantage of additional features and setting.

You can enable booking extensions on the pricing tab to allow your customers to easily extend their bookings during their rental period.

Maintenance time: Define automatic buffer time after each booking for cleaning, inspection, maintenance or checks.

Deposits: define a security deposits, which is reserved from the customer's credit card for the duration of the rental or captured manually when the order was created manually.

Customer information: collect additional information from the customer after they have created the order (e.g., shoe size for ski rentals).

Product recommendations: display recommended products for the customer whey they add this product to the cart.

Note: this feature is only available on TWICE online store.
Tip: you can also add products which are hidden as a recommended product to make the product(s) available only with other products.

Sales channels: make the product visible on the desired TWICE sales channels.

Finalize the product

After you have perfected the product make it public and it is ready to start accepting bookings.

  1. By default, newly created products are hidden.
  2. Review the product details.
  3. Set the product status to Public to make it available in your online store.
  4. Link inventory:
    • Attach the product to the appropriate inventory articles. Multiple offerings (e.g., standalone rentals and bundled packages) can share the same inventory, ensuring accurate real-time availability.

Once published, your rental product will be available for customers to book directly from your online store.
