Why Use Product Variants?

Product variants are essential for businesses managing inventory across various product options, especially in rental and resale operations. Product variants help you:

  • Track inventory accurately across different versions of the same product
  • Offer customers more options while maintaining an organized inventory
  • Streamline operations by grouping related products
  • Generate detailed analytics on variant performance

Creating Product Variants

1. Access Product Settings

  1. Go to your Catalog
  2. Select the product you want to add variants to
  3. Click the "Variants" tab

2. Add Variant Options

  1. Click "Add option"
  2. Name your option (e.g., "Size", "Color")
  3. Add the values for the variant option (e.g., Small, Medium, Large)
  4. Click "New variant" to add more values
  5. Click "Save"

3. Create Variant Combinations

  1. Click "Add option"
  2. Fill in all the details for all the different variant combinations
  3. Repeat for all desired combinations
Note: Create all necessary combinations to avoid making options mutually exclusive.

4. Set Inventory Levels for Each Variant

  1. Go to the "Availability" tab
  2. All the variants you created now appear under the "Inventory" section
  3. Choose the SKU the variant is connected to in your inventory or Create a new SKU.
  4. Define how many items of that specific variant you have in stock, set the SKU code, and choose whether you want to track items individually and generate article IDs automatically.

How Variants Appear to Customers

  • Online Store: Customers select variants before adding to the cart
  • Admin Booking: Staff can see and select variants during manual bookings
  • Self Check-In: Variants are selectable after booking duration selection

Best Practices

  • Keep variant options simple and clear
  • Regularly update inventory levels for each variant
  • Monitor variant performance to optimize your offerings
  • Use consistent naming conventions for variants

Common Issues to Avoid

  • Creating too many variant combinations
  • Neglecting to update inventory across all variants
  • Making options unnecessarily complex
