What is a Product Bundle?

A product bundle in Twice Commerce is a collection of individual products sold together as a single unit. Product bundles are great for streamlining sales and enhancing customer experience while maintaining precise inventory control. Each item in the bundle maintains its individual inventory tracking while being part of a cohesive offering. For example, you could bundle skis, boots, and poles together as a "Complete Ski Package".

Note: Each product in a bundle maintains its individual inventory tracking while being part of the package.

Benefits of Product Bundles

  • Simplify purchasing decisions for customers
  • Offer attractive package pricing
  • Maintain accurate inventory tracking for each component
  • Create compelling rental or resale packages
  • Streamline order management

Creating a Product Bundle

Step 1: Prepare Individual Products

Before creating a bundle, ensure all component products are already in your catalog with:

  • Accurate inventory counts
  • Complete product details
  • Proper pricing

Step 2: Create the Bundle

  1. Go to your Catalog and click "New Product"
  2. Enter the bundle name and basic details
  3. Check the "This is a product package" checkbox in the General tab
  4. Search and select products to include in your bundle
  5. Click "Save Changes"
Important: Currently, each product in a bundle is limited to a quantity of 1. We're rolling out an update in the near future that allows adding multiple articles of the same product into a bundle.

Step 3: Manage Bundle Inventory

Twice Commerce automatically manages bundle availability based on the inventory levels of individual products.

  • Bundle availability is determined by the component with the lowest inventory
  • Each component's inventory updates automatically when the bundle is purchased
  • Individual products remain available for separate purchase

Best Practices

  • Complementary Products: Bundle items that naturally go together (e.g., skiing equipment + lesson, AV systems consisting of several components, etc.)
  • Clear Naming and Product Descriptions: Use descriptive names and product descriptions to communicate bundle contents
  • Competitive Pricing: Price bundles slightly lower than the sum of individual items to provide value
  • Inventory Planning: Monitor stock levels of all bundled items to maintain availability

Order Fulfillment

Every product within a bundle is automatically included in the order when someone buys a bundle. You need to assign IDs to each product when processing the order. The system monitors each item individually for inventory management and alerts you if any product in the bundle is out of stock or encounters other issues.

Limitations

  • Each product in a bundle is limited to a quantity of 1. (Update coming soon)
  • Nested bundles (bundles within bundles) are not supported
