Configuring pricing for subscription products

Considering selling your products on a subscription model? This article will explain how to set up and manage subscription pricing in TWICE Commerce.

Understanding Subscription Products

Subscription products in TWICE Commerce are durable goods (like bikes, sports equipment, or electronics) that customers can access for a recurring fee. This model helps businesses generate predictable revenue while enabling customers to access high-quality products without the burden of ownership.

Accessing Subscription Settings

  1. Log into your Twice Commerce admin dashboard and navigate to Product Catalog
  2. Select the product you want to configure
  3. Click the "Pricing" tab, then "Subscriptions"

Configuring Basic Subscription Settings

  1. Toggle "Subscriptions" to ON
  2. Define your commitment periods (e.g., 3 months, 6 months, 12 months)
  3. Set payment cycles (currently preset to monthly)
  4. Choose auto-renewal options:
  5. None: Subscription ends after the commitment period
  6. Monthly: Automatically renews each month

Setting Up Pricing Tiers

  1. In the pricing section, enter the monthly fee for each commitment period
  2. The system automatically calculates the total revenue for each period
  3. Consider offering pricing incentives for longer commitments
Example pricing structure: 3-month commitment: $49/month ($147 total), 6-month commitment: $45/month ($270 total), 12-month commitment: $39/month ($468 total)

Managing Subscription Rules

Payment Card Policy

  • Customers cannot remove payment cards during commitment periods
  • Automated notifications sent for expiring cards
  • The system prompts card updates to maintain service

Price Changes

  • New prices apply to future subscriptions only
  • Existing subscribers maintain the original pricing
  • No retroactive charges for price differences

Best Practices

  • Communicate commitment periods and terms
  • Plan for post-subscription product handling:
  • Refurbishment for new subscribers
  • Resale opportunities
  • Material repurposing or recycling
