Managing store-specific closed days and holidays

Exception Periods in Twice Commerce allow you to manage your store's closed days, holidays, and special operating hours.

Proper configuration of the Exception Periods ensures accurate product availability, prevents conflicting bookings, and maintains clear communication with your customers.

Understanding Exception Periods

Exception Periods override your regular operating hours during specified date ranges. They're ideal for managing:

  • Holiday closures
  • Seasonal hour changes
  • Maintenance periods
  • Special events

Setting Up Closed Days and Holidays

  1. Navigate to Settings > Opening Hours in TWICE Admin
  2. Select the correct store from the dropdown at the top of the page
  3. Click "Add Exception Period"
  4. Configure the period:
    • Set the date range using the FROM and TO fields
    • Click "Edit" to modify hours
    • Add multiple rows for different rules within the same period
    • Mark specific days as closed by selecting "Closed" option
Note: If you have multiple stores, each of your stores can have their own default and exception opening hours.

Impact on Operations

When you set up an Exception Period:

  • The exception period will override your default business hours
  • The booking calendar blocks out these dates/times
  • Customers cannot make new reservations during closed periods
  • Existing bookings remain unchanged but should be managed manually
  • Your store's "About" section automatically displays updated hours when the exception period begins

Customer Communication

While Twice Commerce doesn't provide automatic customer notifications for closures, we recommend:

  • Adding closure information to your store description
  • Manually communicating changes to customers with existing bookings
  • Using your preferred communication channels (email, SMS, social media) to inform customers

Best Practices

  • Plan Exception Periods well in advance
  • Review and update Exception Periods regularly
  • Set up periods for known annual closures (holidays, seasonal changes)
  • Double-check date ranges before saving changes
  • Consider the impact on existing bookings when setting up lengthy closure periods
